Healthy Lunches

I’ve told people many times that by preparing their own lunches they can help reduce their body fat. It only takes a few minutes but for some reason, people refuse to do it. I will see these same people at the grocery store spending a couple hours reading labels looking for ways to cut calories.

My tips will help you make better choices for lunch but they are only tips. You have to act or they will never be useful to you.

Here are some things to choose and avoid for lunch:

-       Avoid anything that has hydrogenated fats in it

-       Anything with mayo or sauces should be avoided

-       Most pasta will be white pasta and that is another food to cut out of your lunch. Whole wheat pasta is cheap if you buy it at the bulk store and will keep you feeling full longer.

-       If you can’t spell or understand the ingredients listed on the package, get rid of it.

-       A lot of people focus on the fat content but the most important part is the portion size and amount of calories.

-       Try to choose things with a high bean or vegetable content.

-       If you have to eat unhealthy, skip the combo and just get the burger. You can get a bottle of water or water from the tap at school or work. Even thought the burger will have plenty of calories, the soda will really kill the deal.

-       Try to go plain when it comes to shrimp or chicken. Many dishes include ham and bacon which are loaded with fat and grease.

-       Choose a meal that is filled with complex carbohydrates like brown rice, high protein like chicken, and of course a good portion of vegetables.

-       Another thing to remember is to not to starve yourself, and then gorge a 1kg plate of food in a single sitting.

If you spend your time wisely your body will reward you. Although, eating right is only part of the battle. You also need to get plenty of exercise and rest. You’ve got to really want to lose weight or you will end up going in circles like you have in the past.
